I already told you that the Kanken Classic is the most popular Fjallraven Backpack and I have been using it for months. So, I am going to tell you about its features, properties and my experience in detail.

Storage & Material
The roomy compartment of this bag has a volume capacity of 16L that easily befits the short-outing requisites. Talking about the material, it is made up of Vinylon which is durable, lightweight, dirt, and water-resistant. Another thing that I liked about the bag is the sitting pad provided at its back. I found this pad really comforting and ergonomic for myself. And in spite of using this backpack every day, I haven’t faced any issues yet.
Pockets
Kanken Classic backpack comes with enough space to carry a laptop, files, notebook, etc. Also, you can take this bag for a day trip and short outing as it can hold a number of clothes in it as well. Plus, there is a front panel on the bag where you can carry things like cards, keys, and documents within your reach. And not to mention, it comes with side pockets as well to carry other goods & gears.
Straps
The straps of this pack are very well-sewn which can be seen in the picture given below. And no doubts that these thin straps are durable and contribute a modish look to the bag. But they will chafe into your shoulder if you will be carrying a heavyweight in the bag.
To overcome this problem, the brand has provided a feature of converting these straps into double layers. You can see this double-layer arrangement in the picture posted below.
Not only the straps but the handles of this Fjallraven Kanken backpack are also sturdy and durable. Plus, a fold-over with a snap button is given on the handles for convenient carrying.
To boot, you can attach padded straps on them as well but you need to buy Fjallraven padded straps from its store.
Water Resistance Property Test
People frequently ask, “Are Fjallraven backpacks waterproof?” Actually, the brand claims that its products are water-resistant which means they can resist rain and water splashes to some degree. While the waterproof property means a product can barrier water entry completely. So, to find out the truth, I did some tests on my backpack.
First, I submerged my Fjallraven backpack in water and yes, it got a little wet inside. But when I did a splash test, the water didn’t get inside.
With these tests, I concluded that this Kanken backpack is water-resistant but not waterproof.

Yes, Fjallraven backpacks are comfortable to carry as they come with an ergonomic design. Plus, the sitting pad in these bags provides a very gentle touch to your back.
But here is a thing, some Fjallraven backpacks don’t come with padded straps. Like my Kanken Classic backpack that has thin and sleek straps. But with every problem comes a solution, e.g., there is a feature of converting the straps into a double layer in the Kanken bag. How Long Do Fjallraven Backpacks Last?
I have been using a Fjallraven backpack for five months and have not found a single problem yet. I also want to share my friend’s experience whose Fjallraven ran for years. So, I am hoping that I will have the same experience with mine too.
Moreover, the durability of the backpack also depends on how you treat it. I mean, you should follow the correct washing guide for a specific fabric bag. Plus, you should not carry overweight as per the threshold of the product. Furthermore, some fabrics can’t bear the heat or high temperatures, so keep it in mind as well.
Talking about how long Fjallraven backpacks last then I would say, they are tough bags so you can expect a long run. But keeping sharp objects or heavyweight in it regularly may result in damage soon.
